Liverpool have so far enjoyed a quiet transfer window, with the early signing of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig the only addition to Jurgen Klopp's squad so far this summer.
There have also been no major departures from Anfield as of yet, but rumours remain linking players on the fringes of the squad with moves away from the club.
In addition, Liverpool are now being linked with a shock move to bring Philippe Coutinho back to the club from Barcelona, three years after he moved to Spain for £142million.
The Reds are also still interest in Jeremy Doku of Rennes according to reports coming out of the Netherlands.
Linked with Coutinho return
Liverpool have been linked with a shock move for former player Philippe Coutinho, three and a half years after the Brazilian left the club.
Coutinho joined Barcelona in January 2018 for £142million but has struggled in Spain despite scoring 23 goals in 90 appearances.
The playmaker spent the 2019/20 season on loan in Germany with Bayern Munich, where he won the Champions League, with his loan side beating his parent club 8-2 along the way.
The 29-year-old is expected to cost under £30million if he is to leave Barca this summer but could end up staying with the club following the departure of Lionel Messi.
A host of other Premier League clubs have reportedly shown an interest, including Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Everton.
Phillips may join Southampton
Defender Nat Phillips is being lined up by Southampton to replace the departing Jannik Vestergaard, with the Danish centre back set to join Leicester City.
Phillips would cost the Saints £15million and is believed to be open to leaving the club after the returns to fitness of Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez pushed him down the pecking order.
The 24-year-old has not trained this week and only played 89 minutes across three appearances in pre-season.
Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley and Newcastle United have all also shown an interest in Phillips earlier in the transfer window.
Doku interest remains
According to reports in Holland, Liverpool remain interested in signing Belgian winger Jeremy Doku from Rennes.
The 19-year-old would reportedly cost around £38million this summer and has come close to joining Liverpool in the past whilst he was still playing for Anderlecht.
He impressed during the Euros for Belgium, particularly in their quarter-final defeat to Italy where he set up his side's only goal of the game.
