Liverpool make Zielinski enquiry and eye Rice move as Klopp names three targets

Liverpool are expected to make a number of moves in the summer transfer window to boost their chances of reclaiming the Premier League title next season.

The Merseyside outfit endured a miserable defence of their crown last term, with Jurgen Klopp ruling them out of contention as early as February.

Klopp's side at least managed to pick their form up and secure a place in the top four, nevertheless, meaning potential recruits can still be promised Champions League football at Anfield.

Zielinski enquiry launched

Georginio Wijnaldum's departure on a free transfer has left Klopp with a gaping hole in the middle of the park this summer, and reports suggest Napoli star Piotr Zielinski could fill it.

Calciomercato claim Liverpool have made an enquiry to the Italian club about a potential deal this summer, although an official offer is yet to be submitted.

Klopp is understood to have been an admirer of Zielinski, who has scored 32 goals in 239 games for Napoli, for a number of years and is now keen to bring him to Anfield as a replacement for Wijnaldum.

It is now over to Napoli to decide their valuation of the 27-year-old, which could be high given his current contract runs until 2024.

Rice deal eyed

According to Eurosport, Liverpool could go head to head with Chelsea and Manchester United for Declan Rice's signature this summer.

Rice, who has played a key part in England's run to the Euro 2020 semi-finals this summer, has been on Chelsea and United's radar ever since he burst onto the scene at West Ham in 2017.

But it is believed Liverpool are now also eyeing up the Three Lions ace amid their hunt for a new midfielder.

He is likely to come at a significant price, nevertheless, with West Ham reportedly valuing him at over £100million.

Klopp requests three signings

After failing to retain the title last season Klopp will be determined to bolster his squad and propel Liverpool back to the top of English football next time out.

And Spanish website Fichajes reports that the German has urged Reds sporting director Michael Edwards to sign three players this summer.
