Liverpool should strike Man Utd transfer agreement to solve Jurgen Klopp problem

Alisson’s latest injury setback should push Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp into the transfer market for another goalkeeper with the perfect option available at Manchester United. Alisson has been key to Liverpool’s success over the past two seasons, helping them create a formidable defensive unit.

In a 12-game winning stretch last season between December and February, the Brazilian kept 10 clean sheets and conceded just three goals as Liverpool marched towards their first top flight title in 30 years.

In the year before, he pulled off a number of heroic saves as Liverpool went on to win their sixth Champions League trophy.

He’s established himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers and his presence in goal brings a certain calmness to Liverpool’s defensive line.

But when Alisson is out of the team, Liverpool’s backline has looked shaky and unorganised at times.

Adrian joined Liverpool last summer to replace Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

And he was immediately called upon to deputise for Alisson in the first eight games last season after the latter picked up a calf injury.

Liverpool were able to navigate those games to take all three points on every occasion, but that was more due to Jurgen Klopp’s attacking threat as opposed to Adrian’s efforts in goal.

He had his moments for sure, but he’s also had a high number of costly errors.

None more so than in the Champions League exit to Atletico Madrid last season when two mistakes put the tie out of Liverpool’s grasps.

Arguably the toughest position to fill for any title-contending team is that of a second-choice goalkeeper, especially when Alisson’s place in the starting line-up is nailed on when he’s fit.

But his latest injury setback may be cause for concern for Klopp, who suggested Alisson faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, there is arguably the Premier League’s best second-choice goalkeeper available at Manchester United in Sergio Romero.

The Argentine has now been demoted to third choice with Dean Henderson returning to Old Trafford this summer.

Romero is too good of a goalkeeper to be wasting away on the training ground at United and he’s proven over the years to be more than capable to fill in for David de Gea.

United will certainly not want to strengthen a rival, especially Liverpool given the relationship between the two clubs.

But Romero may be able to force an exit if a viable option becomes available and Liverpool could well be the perfect place.
