Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has a target set by Luis Suarez in his sights as he aims to win the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career. The Liverpool star is currently in form good enough to take the prestigious accolade, with 15 goals and five assists in 12 games this season.
Salah will be hoping to add to his tally when Liverpool play host to Graham Potter’s Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.
And statistics released by Stats Perform boasts some remarkable reading for the Egyptian.
According to the data – which stretches back to the beginning of the 2008-09 campaign – only eight players have played at least 2,000 minutes in a season and averaged at least 1.00 non-penalty goals and assists per 90 minutes.
Luis Suarez ranks top of the list with 1.30 non-penalty goals and assists per 90 minutes, which he achieved in the 2013-14 season.

Salah ranks second with 1.27 – which he notched up during his remarkable first season with Liverpool, which saw him score no fewer than 32 times in 36 Premier League appearances.
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is third with 1.23, while Daniel Sturridge is fourth after his impressive campaign with Liverpool in the 2013-14 campaign.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane, former Manchester forward Sergio Aguero, ex-Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie are the remaining four players to achieve the feat.
But now Salah could trump not only his own previous best of 1.27 non-penalty goals and assists per 90 minutes in a season but pip former Liverpool striker Suarez to the top of the rankings.

In the current campaign, Salah is averaging an astonishing and previously unheard of 1.56 non-penalty goals and assists per 90 minutes.
And the Egyptian star doesn’t appear to be showing any sign of easing up.
Only Lionel Messi has had a season with a better rate than Salah currently has, when he scored 42 non-penalty goals and provided 11 assists for a combined rate of 1.80 per 90 minutes during the 2012-13 campaign.
Given that Messi only achieved such a feat once tells you that it’s likely that Salah won’t be able to sustain such numbers for a whole season.
Here is the complete list of those who have achieved the feat in the Premier League is as follows:
1) Luis Suarez, 13-14 Liverpool: 1.30
2) Mohamed Salah, 17-18 Liverpool: 1.27
3) Didier Drogba, 09-10 Chelsea: 1.23
4) Daniel Sturridge, 13-14 Liverpool: 1.11
5) Harry Kane, 16-17 Tottenham: 1.10
6) Sergio Aguero, 14-15 Manchester City: 1.02
