Liverpool team news: Expected 4-3-3 line-up vs West Ham as Jurgen Klopp springs surprise

Liverpool take on a West Ham side in a rich vein of form today with Jurgen Klopp facing a few selection headaches. The Hammers have come out with some great results in the last month, drawing against Manchester City and Tottenham as well as beating Leicester. Liverpool are in good form to though having recorded three wins on the bounce.

Goalkeeper:

It was first thought that Adrian would have a longer spell in goal for the Reds with Alisson having recently suffered an injury. But the Brazilian has since recovered and his presence back in goal has been a welcome addition to Klopp’s frail back line of late. But who plays in front of Alisson remains the big question heading into today’s fixture.

Defenders:

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson are all guaranteed starters for this game but then it begins to get tricky with the fourth pick. Fabinho’s injury in the Champions League win over Midtjylland has left Klopp short of options with Rhys Williams seemingly next in line to take the position. But the Liverpool boss has hinted that he could drop one of Jordan Henderson or James Milner to play alongside Gomez.

Midfielders:

If Henderson drops back into defence then that could free up the space for Curtis Jones to make his first Premier League start of the season. The 19-year-old has established himself as a fan-favourite ever since breaking into the first-team with his quick feet and eye for goal. Georginio Wijnaldum will hold his place in midfield but Klopp could look to utilise Roberto Firmino in his trio once again.

Forwards:

With Firmino potentially playing further back once again, Klopp may well look to give Takumi Minamino some minutes leading the line. Diogo Jota has hit the ground running since joining from Wolves, but he’s started the last two games. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane love playing against West Ham so they’re position is never in doubt.

Liverpool expected line-up: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Henderson, Robertson; Jones, Wijnaldum, Firmino; Mane, Salah, Minamino
