Finn Tapp may have found fame and fortune alongside Paige Turley on Love Island this winter – but he is now expected to return to his playing duties in the National League South with Oxford City.
The 20-year-old central defender joined the club in the summer having impressed on trial after leaving League One outfit MK Dons, but went away in January as the first winter series of the show begun filming.
It was revealed earlier in the year that Tapp was in breach of his contract when he traveled to South Africa to take part, and The Hoops are anticipating a swift return to action despite the conclusion of the dating programme only taking place on Sunday.
City's commercial director Mick Livesey has outlined that measures will be taken to ensure club bosses are not left in a similar position in the future, while stating his hope that the youngster returns to action.
Livesey told the BBC: "I can assure you that all new players we sign from now on, we will be putting clauses in their contracts. I think we're going to have to.
"We're an ambitious football club, we're going from strength to strength and we're looking to build.
"This hasn't been ideal. It is probably disruptive to the club and results.”
While saying in regard to Tapp’s exit: ”He was [in breach of his contract] but I think you need to take a pragmatic sort of view: A 20-year-old lad, he's offered all this reality TV stuff.
Love Island fans slam 'pointless' £50K cash prize twist after Paige and Finn split prize
"He has a contract, so he has to finish the contract he has with the football club. He's done very, very well for us."
The couple shared the £50,000 grand prize which was presented to them by host Laura Whitmore, with both visibly shocked by the triumph as voted for by the public.
In what is likely to come as a blow to both Oxford City and their future plans, Tapp seemed to commit himself to a move to Manchester shortly after he was announced as the winner.

"And you make me so excited for things after Love Island. The one I most excited for is moving to Manchester with you."
He then added: “I found Paige and that’s the real win for me and I honestly do mean that.
“Obviously the money helps… but no honestly I can’t actually put it into words, I don’t know how I’ve blagged it to be fair!”
