Romelu Lukaku appears to have taken a swipe at Chelsea with a cryptic Instagram post following his loan exit to Inter Milan.
The Belgian striker set the Blues back a club-record £97.5million last summer. However, after a season of struggles, the forward has been allowed to re-join Inter on a season-long loan ahead of the upcoming campaign. Injuries, a loss of form and the backlash from his controversial Sky Italia interview saw the 29-year-old grow disgruntled at Stamford Bridge and seek a return to the San Siro.
Following his recent loan return, Lukaku expressed his delight at rejoining the team he helped win the Serie A title and now he's spoken out once again, this time on social media. In a cryptic post, the forward appeared to take a bitter swipe at parent club Chelsea as he mentioned how "easy it is to cut ties" and ended with the word "gone".

The Instagram post, which included a black and white shot of Lukaku looking serious with his phone in hand, was accompanied by the message: "I'ma probably show you I'm solid first and if the energy ain't right. I'ma show you how easy it is to cut ties, no more tries. Gone…"
While the terms of Lukaku's loan mean he will be expected back at Chelsea in 12 months' time, it remains unclear what the future holds. It certainly seems unlikely that the Belgian will feature for the Blues while Thomas Tuchel is in charge as the pair endured a fractious relationship.
Following the completion of his Inter return, Lukaku proudly declared: "I'm back baby. I'm very happy. Remember three years ago when we were here? Good to be back. That's what we are here for (to score lots of goals), I keep my promises you know that. Thanks for having me. Forza, Inter!"

Lukaku managed a mere 15 goals in 43 appearances for the Blues last term, with a significant chunk of those outings coming from the bench, as he struggled to hold down a starting spot in Tuchel's side. Addressing Lukaku's decision to escape Stamford Bridge this summer, his lawyer, Sebastien Ledure, admitted the striker couldn't afford to spend another season confined to the Blues' bench.
"Romelu told me he’s 29 and at the prime of his career, he couldn’t afford to lose another year," Ledure revealed. "It’s not a secret him and the coach (Thomas Tuchel) don’t share visions.
“Big clubs I can’t tell the name of wanted to sign Romelu, but it never became concrete because he decided very early that he wanted to join Inter. He talked to the coach a lot just like he did with Antonio Conte in 2019 so he was sure they shared the same visions."
Lukaku was reportedly reduced to tears upon learning Inter were coming to rescue him from his Chelsea nightmare. But while the Belgian is thrilled by his return, the striker has been warned by the Italian club's ultras that all has not been forgiven after he 'betrayed' them last summer.
