Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has admitted that the Red Devils rely a lot on Bruno Fernandes and believes they need "more players stepping up to the plate".
Fernandes has been integral to United since making the move from Sporting Lisbon in January, with Shaw conceding that "if Bruno doesn't play well we struggle".
In an interview with Sky Sports, the left-back said: "I think even in our squad now we have unbelievable players.
"But of course Bruno, the fact he came in midway through the season, to adapt that quickly to the Premier League… it doesn’t surprise me because you could tell he was going to be special with his confidence and aura.
"He wants to improve himself and improve the team. That’s helped us because we were in a bad state when he came in. He’s very important to our team now and everything goes through him.
"We as a team need to take some pressure off him because he’s doing a lot. Of course he likes doing a lot but us as other players need to step up as well.
"Sometimes it looks like if Bruno doesn’t play well we struggle so we need to improve that and have more players stepping up to the plate."
United legend Andy Cole recently claimed the Red Devils should be 'concerned' about losing Fernandes, telling The Target Men Podcast : "I’m very surprised to see how quickly Bruno Fernandes has taken to the Premier League since he joined Manchester United.
"Bruno Fernandes joined the club for a big fee and I have to say I didn’t know too much about him. I wondered if he was going to be able to continue scoring goals and producing assists at the same rate this season now that clubs knew more about him, but he’s arguably been even better!
"Bruno Fernandes doesn’t wear the captain’s armband but anyone watching this Manchester United team can see that he is the leader of the dressing room and he leads by example on the pitch. He’s a world class quality player.
"The concern for Manchester United is that Bruno Fernandes has well and truly put himself on the map now.
"It’s probably only a matter of time until there are rumours of a Barcelona and Real Madrid being interested in signing him and if Manchester United continue to not perform in the Champions League, no-one knows if his head could be turned in the years ahead."
