Brighton are targeting Porto left-back Zaidu in a move which could pave the way for Marc Cucurella to join Manchester City.
But the Seagulls face competition from Crystal Palace for the 25-year-old Nigerian, whose representative is super-agent Jorge Mendes. Zaidu played 40 matches for Porto last season, has Champions League experience, and has been capped ten times by his country.
He is under contract until 2025 but it is understood Porto would sell for the right price, and are looking for at least £20m for him Brighton are scouring the market for a potential replacement for Cucurella in case the Spain defender leaves, with City among a number of clubs looking at him.
But Palace's interest is more of a surprise with England starlet Tyrick Mitchell having the left-back slot tied down at Selhurst Park. The Eagles do need competition in that area but Zaidu is unlikely to leave Porto without the promise of regular first-team football. Brighton also still expect to complete the signing of rising Paraguay star Julio Enciso from Libertad, despite interest from City and Arsenal.
