Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele remains the only loan option for Manchester United today.

Porto defender Alex Telles is undergoing his medical ahead of his £15.4million move while 18-year-old Penarol winger Facundo Pellistri is expected over from Uruguay after his £9million clause was deposited.

Both will be joined by striker Edinson Cavani who has also undergone his medical. Cavani will sign a two-year contract which will include a break clause for the club and the player next summer.

United though have not ruled out the addition of Frenchman Dembele too from Barcelona.

The Spanish side are in talks to sign Memphis Depay from Lyon and Manchester City defender Eric Garcia but want to offload Jean-Clair Todibo and Dembele to offset their spending and take weight off their salary budget.

United have been unable to bring in Jadon Sancho but are open to bringing in Dembele on a season loan today and talks are ongoing.

Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has endured a frustrating summer transfer window

Watford’s Ismaila Sarr has been linked but the Championship side value their winger at £40million and don’t plan to loan without an obligation.

United have had an enquiry from Southampton for Brandon Williams but have no plans to let the young full-back leave.

Leeds United had tried to sign Dan James but the Wales international, who has been ill over the past week, wanted to stay and fight for his place and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to keep him.

James is likely to take stock of his situation in January should he fail to make a greater impact on United’s first team.
