Erling Haaland’s exploits for Borussia Dortmund over the last two years have alerted many clubs across Europe, many of whom are dying to sign him. Manchester City, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and more have all been linked with a move but if reports are to be believed, Real Madrid will be the team who win his signature.

Haaland has scored 76 goals in just 74 games in all competitions for Dortmund since his move from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

And even more impressively, the Norwegian has scored 53 Bundesliga goals in just 53 games for Marco Rose’s men – the best ratio of any striker with over 50 goals in the history of the competition.

This has alerted many to his signature, however only one can sign him.

With reports of Kylian Mbappe leaving PSG on a free to the Bernabeu in the summer, many believed Real Madrid would not pursue the signing of Haaland.

However, the Spanish giants believe they are ‘leading contenders’ and can tempt him and Mbappe together, according to ESPN.

The report states that Los Blancos face competition from City, PSG and United for his services over the summer.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men believe they can tempt the Norwegian into a move by structuring the perfect deal for him with Dortmund.

Gareth Bale, Isco, Luka Modric and Marcelo are all out of contract at the end of the season, giving Madrid chiefs lots of room on the wage bill.

This will give the La Liga leaders enough budget to fund a move for both him and Mbappe in a new-look Galacticos frontline.

ESPN earlier reported that Haaland will ask for a wage of over £500,000-per-week should he leave Dortmund, where his £68m release clause comes into play following their final game of the season.

And sources have said that Haaland and his advisers have been told Los Blancos are the leading candidates.

Barcelona are interested in the Norwegian, although their financial situation means a move is highly unlikely.

And with the purchase of Ferran Torres recently, they already have a top-tier forward of their own to develop.

Real remain eight points clear of Sevilla in the La Liga title race. And they face Madrid rivals Getafe on January 2 in a bid to extend their advantage.
