Ten Hag gives update on Rashford ahead of Newcastle v Man Utd
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is currently preparing for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle. The Red Devils have already faced the Toon twice so far this season. Express Sport now takes a look at how the Red Devils should line up for the contest, with four changes expected.
Goalkeeper: De Gea
Earlier in the week, there were reports that David De Gea had turned down an offer of a new contract at United.
But the Spain international is still primed to stay at Old Trafford and it’s expected he’ll start against Newcastle.
United will be without Tom Heaton, with the veteran confirming a recent injury during the international break.
Jack Butland is yet to play for the club, too, since moving from Crystal Palace on loan back in January.
Therefore, De Gea will be between the sticks against Newcastle.
Man Utd takeover: Man Utd making plans for five players
Defence: Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw
United could make two changes when it comes to their backline.
Diogo Dalot started against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final and did well, therefore he should come into the side at the expense of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
And with Raphael Varane fit again, it’s feasible he’ll replace Harry Maguire in Ten Hag’s starting XI.
Lisandro Martinez is poised to play alongside the 2018 World Cup winner.
And Luke Shaw should then start at left-back ahead of Tyrell Malacia.

Midfield: Fred, Sabitzer, Fernandes
Last time out, against Fulham, Scott McTominay was unleashed from the start.
But despite his recent heroics for Scotland against Spain, we’re expecting him to be dropped to the bench.
One player who looks nailed on to start is Marcel Sabitzer.
The Austria international recently bagged twice for his country and also was on target as United battled their way past Fulham last month.
Bruno Fernandes will then be deployed in the No 10 role ahead of the duo.

Forwards: Antony, Weghorst, Rashford
United used Jadon Sancho on the right of their attack against Fulham.
But with the Cottagers taking a lead through Aleksandar Mitrovic, he then made way for Antony.
Antony impressed during his cameo, helping United battle back, and is therefore widely expected to get the nod up top.
Wout Weghorst is expected to lead the line, having started every fixture since his January arrival from Burnley.
And Marcus Rashford will go on the left, with the England international looking to add to his tally of 27 goals across all competitions this term.
Ten Hag praises Fernandes
Fernandes recently won United’s player of the month award for March – and earned praise from Ten Hag ahead of the match against Eddie Howe’s team.
“He is fantastic. He has [had] a fantastic season so far and firstly he is an example,” he said.
“He gives so much energy to the team, but he is taking so much responsibility and pushing the team, but often by example.
“Not only by coaching, by example and he is so good in transitional moments. Of course, in the final third, he is continually a threat,” Ten Hag continues.
“In possession, he is always available to receive the ball. He is always an option and almost every time, he has the right solution.
“I am so happy with Bruno in my team, and I think he’s made a massive improvement during the season, and I hope he can continue this.”
