Manchester United have clearly identified the area they wish to improve the most in the summer as Erik ten Hag’s outfit are expected to spend big ahead of next season. The Red Devils have been linked with a host of strikers to bolster their forward line, as Marcus Rashford has been asked to step off the left wing and lead the line on occasion in recent weeks.

Injured Anthony Martial and Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst are the two current options at centre-forward aside from Rashford, though both could be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season. Three strikers have primarily been linked with big-money moves to United, showcasing that the club’s priority is to bring Ten Hag a striker.

Harry Kane has been strongly mentioned with a move away from Tottenham as his contract expires in less than 18 months and the England captain may be searching for the first major club trophy of his career. Reports have suggested that United are very interested in the 29-year-old who would cost in the region of £100million, though Spurs chief Daniel Levy is known to be a tough negotiator.

Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen has been on fire in Serie A this season as he has spearheaded Luciani Spalletti’s side to 18 points clear at the top of the table in Italy. He could be on the move in the summer and United have been credited with a strong interest in the Nigerian forward, though they will face competition from the likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

While United may renew interest in Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos, having been linked with the Portuguese starlet in January after he replaced Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup. He could be another solution to United’s striker issue, but his release clause of £105m would put him in the same price range as both Kane and Osimhen.

United’s public interest in all three strikers indicates that they are serious about backing Ten Hag and spending big money on a forward to complete his lineup, while other areas may be seen as less of a priority.

The Dutchman reportedly did want further additions in both midfield and at right-back, but sales may be necessary in order to improve those areas depending on the potential takeover of the club from the Glazer family.

Both Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have impressed on the right-side of defence in recent months which may push United into diverting funds from the plan to replace them, to their kitty for a striker. However, their lack of options in midfield has recently been exposed as Christian Eriksen remains injured and Casemiro faces a four-match suspension after picking up his second red card of the season.

Marcel Sabitzer was signed on loan in January, but Ten Hag’s long-standing admiration of Barcelona playmaker Frenkie De Jong has shown that another midfielder would be welcomed in the summer, though a striker of the calibre of Kane, Osimhen or Ramos may be taking priority.
