Man Utd pay touching tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo’s baby boy after tragic death

Manchester United have paid a touching tribute to their player Cristiano Ronaldo after the tragic death of his baby son.

The Portuguese superstar and his long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez released a heartbreaking statement on social media opening up over the situation. It has led to widespread condolences being sent to the couple, including from Ronaldo's club.

The Red Devils replied on Twitter: "Your pain is our pain, @Cristiano. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time." And they have been joined by a number of Ronaldo's teammates, colleagues and friends on social media.

Ronaldo announced in October 2021 that he was expecting twins with his partner Rodriguez, 28. A statement from the couple confirmed the death of their baby boy but said that their baby girl had survived.

Ronaldo and Rodriguez's statement read: "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.

"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.

"We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."

When Ronaldo shared the news that he and Georgina were expecting twins last year, they gushed that their "hearts are full of love". "Delighted to announce we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love – we can't wait to meet you," an Instagram post read.

The 37-year-old has daughter Alana with Rodriguez, while the forward has three other children – Cristiano Jr, and twins Eva and Mateo.
