Manchester United have reportedly ‘put in place the mechanism’ to sign Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also wants to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The Red Devils know they require more signings if they’re to end their wait for a first Premier League title since the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
United have signed nine players since Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho back in December 2018.
The Norwegian landed Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire from Swansea, Crystal Palace and Leicester during his maiden summer transfer window at the helm.
Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo then arrived from Sporting Lisbon and Shanghai Shenhua respectively in January.
And, back in the summer, United secured moves for Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani and Facundo Pellistri.
Despite that, however, they know they need more if they’re to scale the same heights they did under Ferguson during his time at the helm.
And Spanish newspaper AS claim United have put the wheels in motion to sign Camavinga, with the Rennes star highly-rated behind the scenes at Old Trafford.

Real Madrid also want the teenager, who recently made his debut for France during the October international break.
But United view Camavinga as the perfect player to replace the misfiring Paul Pogba, who looks destined to be sold when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
Rennes have tried to tie the 18-year-old down to a new contract but their midfielder is said to be hoping to leave. He will become a free agent in 2022, meaning he may be available for a reasonable price next summer.
As well as Camavinga, the report also suggests United want Haaland.
However, Pogba may actually be key to any potential deal for the Norway international because of the presence of super-agent Mino Raiola.

Should United let the France international join Real, then Raiola could enable Solskjaer’s side to sign Haaland.
But he’s another player in Real Madrid’s sights and what ultimately happens remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, talkSPORT pundit Alex Crook has claimed United have already decided to sell Pogba – because they can’t accommodate him in the same team as Bruno Fernandes.
“There has been a lot debate across talkSPORT over the past couple of weeks: can he play in the same team as Bruno Fernandes?” said Crook.
“Are his days at Manchester United numbered? I think they may well be.

“It’s my understanding United plan to cash in on him next summer.
“They triggered an extra year in his contract [until 2022] earlier this season, but that was as much to protect their sell-on value to stop him leaving on a free transfer.
“I don’t think it necessarily suggests he’s part of their long-term plans. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have realised he can’t play both Fernandes and Pogba together.
“You’ve got to say United have looked a far better side without him in it lately, as they illustrated at Goodison Park when Solskjaer really needed a victory.
“Ultimately, he will end up at Real Madrid. But again we talk about the [coronavirus] pandemic; given his lack of minutes this season and the financial crisis engulfing the whole of football, United may well have to accept a vastly reduced fee than they would have done a couple of years ago.”
