Despite a busy end to the international transfer window, Manchester United are already eyeing up reinforcements to their squad after losing 6-1 to Tottenham in their last game before the international break.
United added Edinson Cavani to their squad on deadline day, as well as agreeing deals for youngsters Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo, while Chris Smalling left for Roma.
However, United are continuing to look to the future, with a number of targets being sounded out.
We’ve got the latest on a couple of big names linked with an Old Trafford switch, as well as updates on potential exits as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are permitted to do more business with EFL clubs before Friday’s domestic transfer deadline.
United add Tarkowski to centre-back shortlist
Manchester United remain in the hunt for a new central defender, and Burnley's James Tarkowski is reportedly among the names under consideration.
The Burnley centre-back was the subject of interest from West Ham United over the summer, but has remained at Turf Moor.
However, his contract with the Clarets expires in 2022 and he could be available next summer at a more affordable price as a result.
According to the Athletic , a new centre-back is one of their priorities for next summer; Tarkowski has been added to a shortlist already including Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.
Tarkowski, who was born in Manchester, has played more than 100 top-flight games for Burnley since their promotion in 2016 and made his England international debut in 2018.
United posing threat to Real Madrid in Camavinga chase
French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga opted to stay at Rennes for the 2020-21 season despite reported interest from across Europe, but Manchester United are continuing to explore a move for the teenager.
Camavinga, who made his Ligue 1 debut last season at the age of 16, made his first appearance for the French senior team in September and scored his first international goal against Ukraine on Wednesday before being replaced by United’s Paul Pogba.
And, according to AS (via the Star) , United have ‘put in place a mechanism’ to bring the teenager to Old Trafford despite interest from Real Madrid.
The report claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Camavinga as a long-term replacement for Paul Pogba, whose contract is due to expire next summer, with AS suggesting United pose a ‘giant threat’ to Madrid despite Zinedine Zidane being keen on adding the youngster to his squad.

Youngsters Laird and Puigmal unlikely to leave
Manchester United academy talents Ethan Laird and Arnau Puigmal now look likely to stay at Old Trafford rather than heading out on loan before Friday’s domestic deadline.
United have allowed a number of youngsters to make temporary exits to clubs, with Dylan Levitt and Tahith Chong among those to leave on season-long deals.
However, defender Laird – who has been training with the first team – and Spanish under-19 midfielder Puigmal are unlikely to join the loan exodus, according to the Manchester Evening News.
One youngster who could be allowed to move on, though, is Di’Shon Bernard.
The centre-back, who made his United debut in the Europa League last season, has reportedly been in talks with clubs in League One and League Two.
