Luka Jovic’s time at Real Madrid hasn’t worked out. Having been compared to Luis Suarez during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, the 23-year-old has suffered a remarkable fall from grace in recent years. But, amid claims Manchester United are determined to secure his signature, he could now be given a chance to save his career over at Old Trafford.
After leaving Benfica, Jovic joined Frankfurt back in the summer transfer window of 2017.
He enjoyed a positive first campaign in Germany, netting a respectable nine goals across all competitions.
But it was his second season where Jovic really flourished, scoring a remarkable 27 times across all competitions.
At the age of 21, he was operating at the peak of his powers. And it was Serbia coach Mladen Krstajic who then compared him to Atletico Madrid hitman Suarez in March 2020, saying: “He’s a classic goal-getter with great control of the ball and a good understanding of the game.
“I’d probably compare him to Luis Suarez.
“He’s courageous and dangerous at any moment because he’s always lying in wait for his chance or any inattention from the opponent.

“He sometimes appears impassive or lacklustre, but that’s even more deceptive for defenders and makes him even more of a threat.”
Since then, however, Jovic’s star has diminished.
He’s no longer shining brightly as one of Europe’s hottest young talents, having suffered ever since moving to Real Madrid in 2019.
Jovic has scored just twice in La Liga since joining Los Blancos, often having to make do with a place below Karim Benzema in the pecking order.
But, now, he could be given a chance to save his career.

Tribal Football have claimed United have held internal discussions about a deal for Jovic, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still eyeing more firepower.
Despite landing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, the Norwegian feels his side require more strengthening up front.
And it’s Jovic whose name is being discussed inside Carrington as United ponder another late striker signing.
If they can get the Real Madrid star back to the level he was, they could have their own version of Suarez at the club.
After all, it was only two years ago where he – instead of Erling Haaland – was being talked about as a future great in the making.

And whether United’s interest results in an official bid, at present, remains to be seen.
They know they can’t rely on Edinson Cavani on a weekly basis, with the Uruguay international entering the twilight years of his career.
Similarly Mason Greenwood who, despite his immense talent, isn’t able to lead the Red Devils’ attack on a weekly basis.
United see Marcus Rashford as more of a winger than a centre-forward, while the same can be said for Anthony Martial as well.
And that’s where Jovic could come in.
The Real Madrid star was recently asked about his future, meanwhile, and admitted he was yet to speak to Carlo Ancelotti.
“I haven’t spoken with the new coach [Carlo] Ancelotti about my situation,” he said.
“He has started preparing and I am giving everything I can in every moment, trying to impose myself and to be best prepared as possible for the new season.
“I try to give a positive impression and show what is my best.
“Many things have happened in recent years.
“I am sure that I could have been better, but I want everything to turn out well in the end. I didn’t arrive at Real Madrid by accident.”
