Rio Ferdinand believes Kylian Mbappe is a mix of the Brazilian Ronaldo and Thierry Henry
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: ‘I think he’s more of a product of a mix between Ronaldo (R9) and Thierry Henry. A little bit. I might be taking it back too far, but it’s a great mix to be in! Imagine being that mix.’

Cole also believes that Mbappe is capable of achieving ‘anything’ given his quality and stressed that the 23-year-old can do things that no other player can do.
Cole said: ‘He’s so explosive, he’s the most exciting player in world football now without a doubt. He can do things that no other player can do – the pace and power, I absolutely love him.
‘I think it’s a great analogy R9 and Henry, because he is a cross between – that’s a massive compliment. If he stays fit which is a big if and carries on the way he’s going he can do anything I mean what a player.’
Mbappe has scored 18 goals in as many appearances for PSG in all competitions so far this season.

Joe Cole doubts Mbappe and Haaland will have a similar rivalry to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
Meanwhile, Erling Haaland has scored a remarkable 22 goals in 16 games for Manchester City.
Despite both players still being in the early stages of their careers, Cole doubts that they will have a rivalry similar to that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Cole believes that Mbappe and Haaland will struggle to match the longevity of Ronaldo and Messi, who have won 12 Ballon d’Ors between them.
Former Chelsea player Cole believes that staying fit consistently for ten years will be a challenge for both Mbappe and Haaland.
Cole did, however, suggest that Haaland could end up outscoring Mbappe, Messi and Ronaldo by the end of his career.
Asked if Mbappe and Haaland could rival Ronaldo and Messi, Cole said: ‘No I don’t think they can because I don’t think I think neither of them have the quality that Messi’s got in the sense of the magic in his boots, I think Haaland and Mbappe just staying fit for the next ten years at that level is another challenge, we’ve seen players do it – it’s never been seen the longevity that Ronaldo and Messi have done so I don’t think Mbappe and Haaland can do it.
‘Halaand’s a goalscorer, he may score more goals than all of them, he may do, but it’s staying fit I think is the problem.’
