Messi nets sensational goal from almost 30 yards as PSG win seven-goal thriller

Lionel Messi has been back to his sparkling best with PSG this season – and he continued his glittering form with a 30-yard wonder goal.

The Argentine superstar received the ball outside of the penalty area when he picked his head up and let fly. The ball flew past a hapless Gauthier Gallon in the Troyes net – as PSG drew level.

Messi's strike fired PSG level for the second time in the encounter – and the Parisian soon took the lead in the Ligue 1 clash. And football fans have loved Messi back to his best the wonder goal.

One fan tweeted: "If you're not watching Messi play this season you're missing out on football heritage which will be etched into history."

"Messi is the greatest football player ever and if you think otherwise, you are f***ing delusional," a second added. While a fourth tweeted: "Lionel Messi the greatest to ever kick a ball, up there with Maradona. Ridiculous!"

And a fourth concluded: "Messi & Neymar have been the absolute stars of the beautiful game so far this season. From another planet!"

Despite the early scare, PSG rallied to beat the minnows 4-3, with former Manchester City midfielder Ante Palaversa netting a consolation goal for the home side.

The strike was Messi's 12th of the season – a figure that has already surpassed his goal tally from the entirety of last campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.
