Michael Owen has backed Manchester United to progress in the Champions League ahead of their crunch group-stage match against RB Leipzig and expects Chelsea to continue their superb run under Frank Lampard.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United were beaten 3-1 by PSG last week, meaning they need to get a result at Leipzig on Tuesday night to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Chelsea secured top-spot in their Champions League group after Olivier Giroud scored four goals in a 4-0 thrashing over Sevilla and Owen cannot see the in-form Blues being stopped in their tracks by Krasnodar.
The former England striker has also predicted victories for fellow Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City in a column for BetVictor.
He said: ‘Manchester United will be without Cavani and Martial for their trip to Leipzig. The Germans were involved in an enthralling 3-3 draw at home to Bayern Munich at the weekend, so United know this will be a big test.
‘The home side need to win here to secure qualification, however, it’s on the road where United have shone this campaign.
‘Leipzig quite simply need to win. I reckon if they attack United, they could leave themselves exposed at the back and pay the ultimate price against a side that seem to be at their best when playing on the counter-attack.
‘RB Leipzig 1-2 Manchester United.’
