Manchester United’s form has gone from bad to worse after Leicester ended their unbeaten away run with a 4-2 victory on Saturday, and Stan Collymore believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have the ability to manage the club.

Collymore believes that Solskjaer is not the right man to manage United, as he doesn’t have the ability to fulfil the role required at the club in his eyes.

United’s form has drastically turned and Solskjaer is now under increasing pressure to perform, as his side have lost four our their last seven games in all competitions.

Their 4-2 defeat to Leicester on Saturday ended their 29-game unbeaten run away from home, and things could get bad to worse for Solskjaer with Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City coming up in the league.

The Red Devils also have home and away ties in the Champions League against Atalanta sandwiched in between.

Solskjaer drastically needs to turn things around, but Collymore doesn’t think he has the ability to do so.

Collymore writes a column for The Mirror and said: “Their results this season, losing in the manner they did against Leicester, against Villa at home, is not consistent at all.

“The question lingers as to how he is still Man U manager, and it comes down to lacking an understanding of modern football. Yes you give a manager time until he proves to you that he does not have the ability to do it anymore.

“And in my opinion Ole doesn’t have the ability and the skillset to manager United to Premier League success.

“It is no thrill to say that, because he is a great bloke. But sometimes you have to say it – the romantic and emotional attachment which got him the job, and gave him time in the – wears out at some point.

“United won’t win the league because they are too inconsistent. You look at the team sheet and it looks like Galacticos have been thrown at a tactics board.

“They have the second-best squad in the league in terms of quality and depth, but haven’t got a clue how to use it.”

Solskjaer spent over £100million this summer as Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo signed for the club, and on paper United look like a serious threat.

However, unlike their title rivals, they lack identity, and the finger is being pointed at Solskjaer for not utilising their talent in the correct manner.

United’s away form was one of the last positive things they were holding onto, as they are winless at Old Trafford for over a month, and frustrations are already starting to show within the squad.

Ronaldo is never one to shy away from showing his emotion, and the Portuguese international made it clear that he was returning to win, but so far his dreams look far from reality.

Solskjaer has to prove to the United hierarchy that he can make his side winners, and although they face a terrifying run of games, it’s the perfect opportunity to make a statement and turn things around.

However, following their defeat to Leicester, United appear far from doing so and the writing could be on the wall for Solskjaer if they collapse during a tough period, and surrender any title hopes.
