Ole Gunnar Solskjaer justifies Man Utd setup for clash with Everton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the diamond midfield is the best option for his Manchester United side despite losing to Arsenal with the same formation last week.

Solskjaer has again opted for the diamond for the clash at Everton with Fred at the base and Bruno Fernandes behind the strikers.

Juan Mata and Scott McTominay are set to be the central midfielders with Solskjaer sticking by it despite a home defeat against Arsenal.

When questioned on the formation and the recent lack of success, Solskjaer said: “Well you can say that, but the diamond worked quite well against Leipzig didn’t it?

“So you know, you don’t have to delve too far back to find good results. Yes, we didn’t blow anyone away with the game against Arsenal, yet that was a tight game.

“Every game lives its own life and the first goal is massive, in any game of football, so today, hopefully we can start bright.”

Solskjaer is under pressure following defeat to the Gunners and Champions League humiliation against Istanbul Basaksehir.

“That’s how I felt when I played, that’s how I feel now when I lead them out.

“I just want them to express their talents and what we want from them today is a confident team, working together.
