Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ’s position as Manchester United manager is reportedly “under review” after a miserable start to the new Premier League season.
United have suffered two defeats in their opening three fixtures of the 2020/21 campaign, first slumping to a 3-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace.
And after snatching a 3-2 win away at Brighton courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes penalty that was awarded after the final whistle, the Red Devils were battered 6-1 by Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The humiliating result has plunged Solskjaer’s future at the club into doubt – and transfer expert Ian McGarry claims his position is already under threat.
He said on the Transfer Window podcast : “It seems very clear that given the recruitments that have been made, given that the fact that he did not get the players he identified, and also in light of the defeats to Crystal Palace and then obviously the humiliation from Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, Solskjaer's position, at least from sources I am told, is currently under review.
“Under review means of course that they will examine the results in the coming month, they will examine results.
“And if it's the case that Solskjaer cannot get the team momentum and get them winning football matches in the Premier League, then he will be called to account with regards to his position.”
Solskjaer will be hoping new signings Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles can pull United out of the current mess they find themselves in.
Both men sealed moves to Old Trafford on deadline day, with Telles joining in a £15million switch from Porto and Cavani on a free transfer after leaving Paris St-Germain earlier this summer.

Yet according to ESPN, United failed to sign even one of Solskjaer’s four main transfer targets in the summer window.
It is believed the Norwegian is disappointed after missing out on deals for Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish, Dayot Upamecano and Nathan Ake.
