Patrick Bamford believes Chelsea are the best team Leeds United have played in the Premier League this season.
Bamford opened the scoring against his former club at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but goals from Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic sealed a 3-1 win for Frank Lampard’s side.
Leeds began their campaign with a 4-3 defeat away to Liverpool, while Marcelo Bielsa’s side secured draws at home against Manchester City and Arsenal.
But Bamford believes Chelsea have given Leeds the toughest time since they gained promotion to the Premier League.
‘We nit-pick everything really. Our physical stats weren’t bad but Chelsea really outperformed what they’ve done the rest of the season, in terms of physically,’ Bamford said on The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman Podcast.
‘Then obviously we know about Chelsea how good they are.
‘I think that’s probably the best team we’ve played this year.’
Meanwhile, Bielsa believes Chelsea deserved their win, which keeps them third in the Premier League and two points behind Liverpool and Tottenham.
‘I thought the result was fair,’ Bielsa said after the game.
‘Also I think what we lacked is that we failed to recover the ball in the initial phase of the game when Chelsea played out from the back,” said Bielsa.
‘We failed to neutralise them at set-pieces and in the end that was an important factor in the result.’
