Rafael sends Ole Gunnar Solskjaer message after Man Utd beat Istanbul Basaksehir

Ex- Manchester United defender Rafael sent a message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the aftermath of Istanbul Basaksehir's second Champions League clash with the Red Devils.

United locked horns with the Turkish champions on Tuesday night in their fourth Champions League Group H match.

Solskjaer's troops ran out 4-1 winners, with a brace from Bruno Fernandes and goals from Marcus Rashford and Daniel James settling the score with Okan Buruk's side.

The impressive victory went some way to alleviate the ever-present pressure on Solskjaer's shoulders.

And Rafael sent a heartfelt message the Norwegian's way after the final whistle.

Alongside an Instagram picture of himself speaking to Solskjaer, the former United full-back wrote: "Just hope the best for you and Manchester United keep fighting my friend like you are doing.

"All the best @manchesterunited thank you for the warm welcome before and after the game. Love you all."

United's emphatic display thoroughly impressed Solskjaer, who said: “I felt first half we saw the intent straight away, they wanted to play and they enjoyed it.

"It’s a Champions League night at Old Trafford, you’d expect them to enjoy themselves.

"We scored some very nice goals, I’m pleased.”

Solskjaer was particularly pleased by Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani's respective contributions to the game.

“The two are getting used to how we want them to play," Solskjaer said of the pair.

"Donny can play in different positions and Edinson is a good old fashioned number nine and we haven’t had that for a while.”

Manchester United will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, travelling to St Mary's to take on Southampton.
