Real Madrid are ‘in pole position’ to sign PSG striker Kylian Mbappe next summer.

Club president Florentino Perez has made the gifted 21-year-old striker his priority target and is already strategising to see off competition from Barcelona, Juventus and Liverpool.

According to AS, Mbappe wants the move to Real to work under one of his heroes, Zinedine Zidane, having first met his compatriot as a star struck 13-year-old.

Kylian Mbappe will be one of the most sought-after players in the world next summer

‘Mbappe thinks in white’, ran the AS headline as they report his interest in a Real move

Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of the player and Mbappe has also spoken with affection for Liverpool in the past.

And Barcelona are a late entry in the race for the World Cup-winner’s signature through presidential candidate Victor Font, who has spoken of his desire to recruit the attacker.

Tuttosport recently reported that Juventus are lining up an incredible world record fee of £360million for Mbappe and are willing to get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo to accommodate him.

PSG are desperate to keen hold of their star forward but are becoming increasingly resigned to him leaving.

The French champions tabled a contract offer of £136million over the next five years but the young talent has not accepted.

Another indication of his planning of a move away is the hiring of Delphine Verheyden, a specialist sports lawyer

She regularly works in the area of image rights and could be a key part of negotiations for a contract with Real or any of the other suitors next summer.

The headline in AS was, ‘Mbappe only thinks white’ and he recently recalled his first experience of meeting Zidane as a wide-eyed youngster in a piece for the Players’ Tribune.

He wrote: ‘Just before I was 14 years old, I had an incredible surprise. My father received a call from someone at Real Madrid inviting me to come to Spain for a test during the holidays. They had actually told my father: “Zidane would like to watch your son”. ‘At the time, Zizou was the club’s athletic director.

Zidane first came into contact with Mbappe when the striker was 14 and the pair have a bond

The France international scored the winner for his country against Croatia on Wednesday

‘Zidane met us in the parking lot next to his car, and it was a really big car, of course. We greeted each other and then he offered to take me to the field to train.

‘He was pointing to the front seat as if to say, “Come on, get in.” But I froze and asked, “Shall I take off my shoes?” Hahaha! I don’t know why I said that. It was Zizou’s car!

‘He saw it as funny. And he said, “Of course not, come on, come in.” He took me to training ground, and I was thinking to myself, I’m in Zizou’s car. I’m Kylian from Bondy. This is not real. I must still be sleeping on the plane. Sometimes, even when you are really living something, you feel like in a dream.’

His affection for Real and Zidane from a young age could well tip the balance in their favour in what could become the most lucrative transfer in history.
