Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has seen his net worth fall by a staggering £2.4billion already this year.
The coronavirus outbreak has ravaged financial markets, although Abramovich still has a fortune of around £10.95billion.
As reported by The Moscow Times, so far in 2020 Russia’s leading billionaires have lost a combined total of £50.6billion.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has seen his net worth fall by £2.4billion already this year
Abramovich has owned Chelsea since 2003 but hasn’t been to England since May 2018, when the government failed to renew his visa.
In the ensuing period Abramovich has turned down four offers for Chelsea, including one from LA Dodgers’ billionaire owner Todd Boehly.
Abramovich has a fortune of around £10.95billion but financial markets have been ravaged
As a consequence of his visa issues, Abramovich shelved plans to build a new £500m state-of-the-art stadium on Chelsea’s existing Stamford Bridge site.
Since Abramovich’s takeover of the club, Chelsea have won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, five FA Cups, three League Cups and have also enjoyed two Europa League successes.
