Roy Keane was famous for pulling no punches both on and off the field during his legendary Manchester United career.

The former Red Devils midfielder has taken that no-nonsense approach into punditry since hanging up his boots, providing a number of hilariously cold one-liners in the television studio.

As a player he was just as intense, developing a fearsome persona on the pitch to go with his leadership qualities and natural talent.

And a hilarious example of that fierce approach came before United locked horns with Inter Milan in the second leg of their crucial 1998/99 Champions League quarter-final tie.

As Sir Alex Ferguson's captain on the night, Keane started the customary pre-match handshakes at the San Siro by leading his team-mates along a row of Inter players.

But when he reached the end of the line, Nerazzurri stars Ronaldo and Diego Simeone were still bending down to fiddle with their socks.

Where do you rank Roy Keane amongst Manchester United's greatest ever players? Let us know in the comments section below.

Without a care in the world, the Irishman didn't waste any time in waiting for the duo to lift themselves back up and shake his hand, walking straight past them even as they looked up at the last minute.

The brilliant moment was Keane at his ruthless best, not even giving Ronaldo, a player regarded as one of the best on the planet, the time of day.

He didn't have much time for any pleasantries with opposition players throughout his career, nevertheless.
