Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has advised Marcus Rashford to jet out to Las Vegas and enjoy a holiday amid his struggles on the pitch this season.

Rashford, 24, has seen his form plummet in the 2021/22 campaign, with his return of just five goals in 31 appearances on course to go down as his worst for United.

The England star enjoyed a rapid ascent at Old Trafford after bursting onto the scene at the age of 18, yet in recent seasons he has failed to live up to his early promise and instead been on a downward trajectory.

Many are now questioning whether his future lies at United, while club legend Wayne Rooney recently urged him to ‘f*****g get his head out of his a***’ in order to turn his fortunes around.

But Saha believes Rashford is simply in need of a holiday, insisting a trip to Las Vegas would help him recharge his batteries.

‘I think he needs to go on a holiday, have a Las Vegas trip and enjoy himself as much as he can! He should not be dropping in confidence at all,’ the Frenchman told

‘This guy is an amazing player, for me, he just needs a rest and some time to think about his career and what he wants next. He has a massive future at United, yes he’s struggling, but when you look at his potential and ability, it’s nothing that dramatic that he can’t recover from.

‘He just needs to get back to where he was when he was 19, not overthinking, or thinking about his status. Just work hard, play with a smile and everything will be fine. There is no one with his qualities, this guy has it all.’

On the back of a disappointing campaign, Rashford’s future at United may be in doubt ahead of new boss Erik ten Hag’s arrival this summer.

Ten Hag is expected to undergo a squad revamp in his first transfer window, meaning a number of underperforming players could be shown the door.

The Dutchman will arrive in Manchester with a lofty reputation after winning two Eredivisie titles with Ajax and guiding them to the 2019 Champions League semi-finals, however Saha questions whether his lack of Premier League experience could be a problem.

‘I think he [Ten Hag] brings the right profile,’ he said. ‘It’s a difficult choice for the board to make.

‘United have tried different styles in the past, with Mourinho and Van Gaal bringing massive experience but it didn’t really work out.

‘Ten Haag brings a style that’s recognisable and is inventive, he’s very effective with youth players, so he fits the bill for sure. But he doesn’t have Premier League experience, and perhaps he’s not got the pedigree of past managers United have tried.

‘So there will be questions, but we can only wish him good luck with what will be a massive task.’
