Fans think Scott Carson has the “easiest gig in world football” after the goalkeeper signed a new contract with Manchester City.
The 37-year-old former England international has been with the Etihad club since leaving Derby County in 2019. Since then, he has played just two matches across four seasons as the side’s third choice goalkeeper.
But that hasn’t stopped the former Liverpool and West Brom shot-stopper from signing a 12-month extension with the Premier League champions.

Carson told City’s official website ahead of the announcement: “I’m excited to be staying at City for the 2023/24 season.
“I love working with Pep [Guardiola], Xabi Mancisidor and our incredible players every day. Hopefully I can help all of our goalkeepers be at their best.”
And fans on social media were left envious of the veteran for enjoying a prolonged spell at the most dominant football team in world football without having to go through the stresses of actually playing.

But another fan pointed out: “Scott is also a mentor for the young talents in the team, him being at Man City is a great support system for the team.”
And Carson’s teammate Jack Grealish was delighted with news of his extension, replying to the announcement tweet with: “Best news ever,” alongside goat and lovestruck emojis.
Carson made his senior debut way back in 2004. He has made 522 club appearances over a 19-year spell, claiming Champions League and FA Cup winners' medals at Liverpool in the process.
