Sergio Aguero has hinted at another summer where Manchester City are relentlessly linked with signing Lionel Messi.
The Barcelona legend was seemingly close to a move away from the Camp Nou last year after a falling-out with the club hierarchy, but ended up staying for the final year of his contract – with no indication as yet as to whether he’ll renew or depart at the end of 2020/21.
Presidential elections and a huge financial deficit at the club are sub-plots which could yet affect that decision, but on-pitch matters are hardly likely to sway one of the world’s best to remain.

Barcelona were beaten 4-1 at home by PSG in the Champions League in midweek and they are nine points off leaders Atletico Madrid in LaLiga, third in the table.
Asked on Twitch about the prospect of his compatriot moving to the Etihad Stadium this summer, current City striker Aguero didn’t give a clear answer, but made his feelings on the matter quite clear.
“Who doesn’t like to play with Leo?” he joked.

Aguero’s own future is similarly uncertain, as he is also out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Despite being the club’s long-term starting striker, he has hardly featured this term after injury, coronavirus-related absences and recovering from the knee issue which saw him miss the end of last year.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do in June,” he said in response to a question on his own plans.
The 32-year-old has made only five Premier League appearances this term, with the last coming on 3 January as a late substitute. He has scored twice in the Champions League, but those are his only strikes all season – his last league goal came over a year ago, against Sheffield United in January 2020.
