Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he's "not surprised" by Bruno Fernandes because he already knew what he was capable of before Manchester United signed him.
The Red Devils were in hot pursuit of the Portugal international midfielder for some time before finally signing him from Sporting Lisbon in January.
Fernandes has played just six times since the switch, but has netted three in all competitions, and is quickly becoming one of the first names on Solskjaer's teamsheet.
Pundits have been heaping praise on the start Fernandes has made, but Man United boss Solskjaer claims he already knew what he was getting.
"I'm not surprised because I saw what he can do on the pitch and his leadership qualities," Solskjaer said. "If you do your due diligence and speak to people who knew his personality, hope he'd have this influence but couldn't be 100 per cent sure.
"Some players take six months but the point was get him in because of the quality, he relishes it, loves being around the place, gives everyone a boost and has an aura."
Ryan Giggs is among the former United players who have hailed Fernandes in recent weeks.
