Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Man United outcast Donny Van de Beek WILL get a chance at Old Trafford as the Dutchman’s ‘top professional’ attitude will ‘reap its rewards’
- Donny Van de Beek joined Manchester United from Ajax just 15 months ago
- But has been shackled to the bench, seeing just 154 minutes of action this term
- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not started him in the Premier League this season
- But the United boss insisted the Dutchman will get his chance at Old Trafford
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised Donny van de Beek will get a chance at Manchester United as the midfielder will ‘reap the rewards’ of his attitude.
Van de Beek has been starved of action since his £39million-move to United from Ajax in summer 2020.
The Dutchman has found himself shackled to the bench, playing a mere total of 154 minutes under Solskjaer this season and starting just two games this season – in the Carabao Cup exit to West Ham and the Champions League defeat to Young Boys when he was replaced at half-time.

The midfielder’s career has stagnated at Old Trafford with the United boss bringing off the bench in the Manchester derby for a late 10-minute cameo.
The 24-year-old also saw a mere six minutes against Newcastle earlier in the season and just four during United’s last-gasp draw against Atalanta in the Champions League.
Real Madrid, Newcastle and Wolves are reportedly interested in rescuing Van de Beek from his nightmare at the Theatre of Dreams.

But Solskjaer insisted that Van de Beek’s patience and hard work will eventually pay off.
‘I speak to him because it’s not easy when players are not playing as much as they think they should do,’ he said via The Sun.
‘He thinks he should be playing more. He will be involved.
‘I can’t say anything other than he’s another example of what to do when you’re not in the team and he’ll reap his rewards.’
Van de Beek has understandably appeared frustrated as his situation at Manchester United has seen him axed from Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands squad.
In September, he was caught on camera angrily throwing his chewing gum to the floor and being consoled by teammates after he was left on the bench for the final minutes of United’s Champions League win over Villarreal.

Yet, Solskjaer admitted he cannot fault Van de Beek’s attitude and insisted he is a ‘top professional’.
‘Our fans can see a top professional and a very good player,’ he said.
‘Donny is one that has never, ever let himself or team or family down by his attitude.
‘His approach to the game and training is spot on. I can’t fault him and he knows that.’
