Tottenham fans unconvinced by Harry Kane taking part in new kit launch

‘That’s the most we’ll see of Kane in this kit’: Tottenham fans left unconvinced by their star man taking part in the new shirt launch as he agitates for a mega-money move away from White Hart Lane this summer

  • Manchester City, United and Chelsea are all interesting in signing Harry Kane
  • The England captain wants to leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window
  • His involvement in the new kit launch did little to appease the Spurs supporters

Tottenham unveiled their new home kit on Monday with star man Harry Kane involved in the launch despite his desire to leave the club.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all interested in signing the England captain, who is likely to cost in the region of £150million to buy.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has no desire to sell Kane, however, and as Sportsmail reported last week was left fuming at Kane’s interview with Gary Neville where he expanded on his hopes of moving on.

But Spurs supporters were largely unconvinced by his presence in the new photographs

It could well set the scene for a transfer tussle lasting across the summer with Levy a notoriously stern negotiator.

And perhaps the first signal of that stubbornness comes in Kane’s participation in a shirt launch that nobody really expects to see him playing in.

His presence didn’t go unnoticed by Tottenham supporters on social media, with one saying: ‘That’s the most we’ll be seeing of Kane in this kit.’

Another, more optimistic, take said: ‘A good sign to see Kane in these photos – please stay with us @HKane.’

A different Spurs fan felt less assured even after seeing Kane’s involvement, drawing a comparison to when Gareth Bale left for Real Madrid back in 2013.

‘Don’t forget Bale was modeling the new kit before leaving to Madrid,’ they wrote.

The ‘elite’ version of Tottenham’s new shirt costs £105 while the standard version still comes in at £70.

One supporter was optimistic that Kane’s involvement means he could stay at Tottenham

Kane’s goal in the 4-2 win over Leicester saw him win the golden boot for the third time

If Kane does get his wish to leave in the summer, he bowed out on Sunday with a goal in Tottenham’s 4-2 win against Leicester that clinched a third golden boot in his career.

His tally of 23 goals for the season eclipsed Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah by one. Salah tweeted his congratulations to Kane on Sunday night, saying: ‘Very well deserved! Congratulations!’

That victory against Leicester saw Kane and Tottenham finish seventh in the standings, a point and a place above Arsenal and in turn qualifying for the new UEFA Conference League.
