Tottenham players finding Nuno ‘distant’ with stars ‘unsure of game plan’

The Tottenham Hotspur players are reportedly finding Nuno Espirito Santo 'distant' and have been left 'unsure of his game plan' after Spurs' recent poor run of results.

Nuno had claimed after the defeat to Arsenal last weekend that his players did not stick to the game plan.

The Athletic report that their is currently a feeling within the Spurs dressing room that the Portuguese manager is "uncommunicative to the point of being distant."

This comes after Joe Hart told the Daily Mail in August that he had just one conversation with Nuno before being sold to Celtic, in which the new manager told him he would never kick a ball under him.

A dressing room source told The Athletic that: “Nobody is quite sure what is what. It’s unclear how we’re playing. There are no patterns of play.”

Spurs were torn open by their north London rivals during the first half on Sunday as they fell to a 3-1 defeat, their third consecutive loss in the league.

After the match, Nuno claimed some of his players had not followed his game plan as he told reporters: “I won’t name individuals who didn’t play the game plan right.

“But the game plan was not right according to the players who were on the pitch.”

He has since played down murmurs of discontent within the squad and claims that he is distant in his press conference on Wednesday ahead of Spurs' Europa Conference League clash with NS Mura of Slovenia.

He started by saying that “Obviously, the mood is not good," before explaining that he speaks to his players "every day, many, many times."

The former Wolves manager also stated that: “There’s no doubts about that because we work together every day and we prepare together.

“The belief is the first step to do things, and we have it.”

Spurs are looking for their first win in the Europa Conference League group stage after drawing their opener away to Stade Rennais.

They will then look for their first league points since August when they host Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
