Mourinho complains other managers like Klopp aren’t punished like him
The Portuguese goes head-to-head against the German once again on Thursday night
Liverpool are on a run of six successive victories against Tottenham in all competitions and have lost only once in the last 18 meetings.
They could win six consecutive top-flight matches against Spurs for the first time.
This is the first time Tottenham and Liverpool have met on a Thursday in the top flight. Liverpool have beaten Spurs on every other day of the week.
‘To play Liverpool is always a motivation’
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho says that his side have some injury concerns but they’ll be up for the challenge tonight as playing Liverpool is always a motivation. He said:
We cannot expect to be playing so many matches without problems, we are going to miss a couple of players but we are ready for the game.
“Now or later doesn’t make a huge difference, it is just a bit strange we finished the first 19 matches playing twice against Liverpool and didn’t play Aston Villa.
“But to play Liverpool is always a motivation, especially in the last years where they were dominant in our league, winning in Europe, and amazing team.”
Liverpool say that Fabinho misses the match with a minor muscle strain.
TEAM NEWS – CHANGES
Ben Davies is the only player to start tonight for Tottenham that lined up against Wycombe on Monday night which means there are expected recalls for Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Hugo Lloris. Matt Doherty also recovers from injury to make the line up.
There are three changes to the Liverpool XI that faced Manchester United in Sunday’s FA Cup match. Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson return to form a centre-back pairing replacing Fabinho and Rhys Williams with Sadio Mane back up top in place of Curtis Jones.
