Wayne Rooney is done dirty by courtroom sketch with fans left in stitches

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has been "done dirty" by an artist's courtroom sketch, leaving fans on social media hysterical.

The Red Devils' record goalscorer, 36, was in attendance at London's High Court on Tuesday (May 11th) to support wife Coleen on day one of her 'Wagatha Christie' defamation trial versus Rebekah Vardy. The ex-Dancing on Ice contestant is suing Coleen for libel after she claimed Vardy was leaking her private Instagram stories to The Sun.

The high-profile legal battle has already drawn mass media attention and some crazy headlines – with Mysterious Girl star Peter Andre bizarrely brought into matters by Rooney's legal team.

But the trial also sparked a stir on social media when a courtroom sketch emerged of a worse-for-looking Wayne sitting alongside his wife on the front bench. As one fan jibed: "I never realised she [Coleen] was now married to Mike Tyson."

"Unlicensed football games circa early 2000's when he had to be listed as Warren Rodney," joked another. Whilst a third commented: "It’s like one of those face mashups. Rooney meets Mike Tyson meets Abe Lincoln."

Though one supporter took their insult to a whole new level: "Looks like the Lord of the Rings Orc." Another simply put: "They’ve done Wayne dirty."

Coleen was once again accompanied by Wayne on Wednesday as the trial continued at the Royal Courts of Justice. The court heard how Vardy's agent suggested leaking a story on Riyad Mahrez to Sky Sports when Jamie's ex-team-mate downed tools towards the end of his time at the King Power Stadium.

The case continues.
