West Ham revive Josh King interest for last minute transfer after Benrahma drama

West Ham have revived their interest in Josh King after problems arose with Said Benrahma’s medical.

Brentford star Benrahma had agreed a five-year contract and was all set to complete a £25m switch to London Stadium on deadline day.

But an issue has arisen with his medical and the Hammers are now back in for Bournemouth forward King.

The Cherries rejected a £13m offer from West Ham for the 28-year-old but talks are back on between the clubs.

The Hammers have until 5pm to get their business done – and are still trying to see whether a deal for Benrahma can be rescued.

Brentford’s No.10 impressed several clubs in last season’s run to the Championship play-off, scoring 17 goals in 46 appearances from midfield.

It is 11 more than King managed last season – but the Norwegian boasts five seasons of Premier League experience and 50 goals in that time.

But the forward has remained coy on his future at the south-coast club after their relegation to the Championship.

He told Norwegian broadcaster TV2: “Honestly, I don’t know what will happen.

“A lot has happened, I could have written a book about what has happened in the last two months and it would have become a bestseller.

“To be honest, it has been the worst two months of my life but I cannot come up with a reason.”

And King has been previously courted by the Hammers as they look to bolster the squad before the domestic transfer deadline.
