Georginio Wijnaldum says Jurgen Klopp is showing his runaway League leaders no mercy – and is cracking the whip all the way to the finish line in the title race.
Far from easing up on his Liverpool stars, Dutch midfield star Wijnaldum revealed that Klopp is keeping standards high as they close in on their first-ever Premier League crown – and a first championship in 30 years.
Klopp isn’t allowing his stars to look further than tomorrow’s game against West Ham at Anfield as they chase an 18th successive League win and bid to bounce back from their Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid.
And the ruthless German boss is not slow to bring his players crashing back down if they lose focus.
Wijnaldum said: “Think of it one game at a time, try to give everything every game and at the end you will see what will happen. We don’t really think about results and those things.
“We just train hard, look at it game by game and don’t look that far ahead. It’s worked well for us so let’s continue this run until the end.
“We also have a manager who makes sure we have both feet on the ground when we have a moment when we’re not concentrated on something like that!
“It’s hard and tough but on the other side, we also enjoy it because it’s a good feeling if you give everything on the pitch and feel that you’ve succeeded at the end of the game.
“We also enjoy the journey – but I have to say that it’s easier because we are winning games.”
