Chris Hughes’ favourite horse Annie Mc to run in Grade One race at Cheltenham

Jonjo O'Neill plans to pitch unbeaten chaser Annie Mc into Grade One company at the Cheltenham Festival.

The six-year-old mare is set to run in the Marsh Novices' Chase over 2m 4f on March 12.

Owned by Coral Champions Club and supported by the bookmaker's ambassador Chris Hughes, Annie Mc has won her three races over fences this season.

O'Neill has decided to test her credentials at the highest level, rather than take up one of her two handicap entries.

"We will go for the Grade One," he told Hughes in a Coral video filmed at Jackdaws Castle.

"It's a good race, I think two and a half, two-six is her trip.

"She has plenty of pace and jumps well.

"She loves her job, loves racing and jumping."

Hughes, 27, rode Annie Mc the first day she was at O'Neill's 500-acre estate in the Cotswolds and has taken his girlfriend Jesy Nelson to see her.

Just after Cheltenham last year, the daughter of Mahler and the trainer's son Jonjo junior gave connections an unforgettable day, when she won a Grade Two race at Newbury.
