Group 1 winning Victorian jockey Noel Callow to ride in Queensland

Group 1 winning Victorian jockey Noel Callow will embark on an extended riding stint in Queensland.

Callow, whose last two rides have been in Group 1s (Lunar Fox – 11th in the Rosehill Guineas and Pippie – 10th in the William Reid Stakes) will kick off with one ride at Toowoomba on Thursday.

He is booked for seven rides at the Gold Coast on Saturday and two rides at Doomben next Monday.

“I just want to ride on the Coast on Saturdays, I will not be coming to Eagle Farm or Doomben on the Saturdays,” Callow, who will be based on the Gold Coast, told the Racing Queensland website.

“If there are mid-weeks at those tracks or elsewhere, I am happy to go to town, but I am happy to just do the Gold Coast on a Saturday.

“I have told everyone that I am happy just to fill in the gaps and I am focused on the Coast on Saturday, build a base here and ride at a weight I am comfortable with.

“I will do my best to get a few winners.

“I have not got many good horses back home that I am committed to, so I thought why not come up?”
