Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for the Mornington program

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over the eight-race card at Mornington on Wednesday.

KUZCO LAD (Race 7 No. 2 – $6.50)

Kuzco Lad has raced in terrific fashion since arriving in Victoria. The four-year-old races on the pace and makes his own luck, which is a major plus around Mornington. He has a tricky gate but he’s worth sticking with on Wednesday.

AIN’T SHE CUTE (Race 3 No. 1 – $3.90)

Charlotte Littlefield has the promising Ain’t She Cute engaged at Mornington, where she’ll again be hard to beat. She did a solid job at Cranbourne second-up and will be fitter again for her latest assignment.

EL VINCITORE (Race 5, No. 2 – $5)

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained gelding has steadily built fitness with four runs this time in and made ground when up to this distance range at Ballarat. He’ll settle closer from the better draw this time and can break through.

FUNDRAISER (Race 8 No. 3 – $2.90)

Fundraiser will be well-named if he can land the last race of the day at Mornington. He wasn’t far away behind the impressive winner The Astrologist at Geelong and this assignment might be a shade easier. He’s drawn perfectly.

MISS ARMSTRONG (Race 4, No. 11 – $7)

Miss Armstrong was a touch unlucky not to have finished in the placings on debut at Mornington last time out and will be fitter for her second outing. The step up to 1500m should suit the daughter of Skilled and she’ll be an improver.

Daniel Stackhouse rides the Mornington circuit as well as anyone with almost 30 wins at the track in recent years and he’ll take a book of five rides for his latest outing on the Peninsula course.

ALLMYLIFE (Race 3 No. 2, $6), SENSE OF DOUBT (Race 4 No. 6, $7.50), LOBSTER NOODLES (Race 6 No. 5, 3.30), LA MARITA (Race 7, No. 8 $8), FUNDRAISER (Race 8 No. 3 $2.80).
